Last spring I entered the Exotic Bamboo Tea shop in San Diego by accident and marveled at how peaceful it was: high ceilings, big open space, a Koi pond, a great atmosphere in which to read or study, tons of great tea, and imports from China and Thailand. I kept returning to read in the outdoor bamboo meditation garden in back. I began talking to the owner, who was whipping up the tea elixirs himself from behind the counter. Alex was extremely friendly as we talked and simply connected.

I loved how I felt when I was there and this idea kept popping up in my head that it would be an inspiring place to have yoga classes. It seemed to be a perfect combination: stop in, practice yoga and afterwards maintain that sense of calm over a cup of tea in the garden. The two complement each other well, both promoting natural healing and rejuvenation. To make a long story short, Alex and I put our heads together, knocked some walls down and we now have the Rahini Yoga Space in Hillcrest.
